| The Chicane | |
![]() |
Coming down the front straight approaching the chicane, you get into 5th gear. Brake for the chicane and click one downshift. The chicane is a good place to make up time, because it is a very safe set of turns since you only have to go between the cones if you aren’t going to make it. It is a right-left-right series, although it isn’t necessary to "turn" at every cone line. For the first right, instead of turning, point your bike in the direction you want while braking. Make a hard "flick" to the left. This is the critical part of the chicane. Do it too early and you hit the base, do it too late and you won’t make the flick back to the right. Get on the gas early and power out towards turn one. |

| Turn 1 | |
![]() |
Brake as late as you can, two downshifts to 2nd gear for the left hand turn 1. |
![]() |
This corner requires a late turn in, because of the bumps in the middle of the turn. |
![]() |
Late apex, hard on the gas as you straighten up, be ready for the bumps on the exit. Be sure to have a good head turn, this is an important corner since it leads onto the return road straightaway. |

| Turn 2 | |
![]() |
Up to fifth gear, short shift to sixth if you want down the return road. Set up on the left side of the track for turn 2, a right hand 130 mph turn, the fastest on the track. Turn in just before the downslope, apex tight on the right. Don’t drift past ½ track on the exit, since the left ½ is very bumpy! On a 600 a fast lap depends on going through here almost wide open. Big bikes—those with the largest gems will be rewarded with a quick time. |

| Gateshack esses | |
![]() |
Move to the right while braking for the gateshack esses, downshifting to fourth gear. |
![]() |
This left/right combination can be taken much faster than you first think. Also a great place to make up time with late braking—just don’t look "straight", look to the first apex on your approach. Be sure to be off the brakes as you turn in, and keep up your mid corner speed. Run right over the red and white striping on the left, flicking it back to the right just as you cross over the striping. Closely hug the striping on the right, and drift wide to the left on the exit, still maintaining a constant throttle. Don’t forget you have to brake for the next turn! |

| The Off Camber | |
![]() |
As you straighten up exiting the gateshack, begin braking while still leaned over. Again, move over to the right to setup the off-camber turn entry, to second gear. |
![]() |
This left turned corner got its name because it used to be very off-cambered, but that part now has striping painted over it. Now it is actually cambered. Like turn 1 it is decreasing radius, so you must turn in late and do a late apex. The key here is good head turn, look towards the next corner just as you get leaned over. A smooth and early roll-on is important for a fast lap. Make the short turn to the right, hugging the striping. |

| The Sweeper | |
![]() |
A short shift to third gear while moving over to the right again for the left turn Sweeper. A variety of lines can be used here, whether passing or blocking or doing a fast lap. On the entry, you want to be between the "4" and "5" numbers painted on the ground. The fast guys will take only a split second to go from straight up and down to having their knee on the ground. Look as far ahead as you can, apexing the striping on the left just after the turn in. |
![]() |
Avoid the "pothole" mid corner, keep a constant throttle but no hard acceleration! This part of the corner is slightly off cambered, and there is no runoff room, so be careful with the gas. |
![]() |
2/3 the way through, you should be in the center of the track, rolling on the gas. Drift to the right on the exit, hard on the gas. This leads onto the front straight so a good exit is rewarded with a good lap time. Lean back over to the right while shifting to fourth gear, full throttle, as you complete the lap. |
